Eric L. Green

Practice profile

Eric Green built his practice at the point where the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Justice Tax Division, and state revenue departments meet the taxpayer — and he has spent his career negotiating the outcomes on the taxpayer side of that table.

His civil practice covers examinations, appeals, collection defense, and Tax Court litigation. His criminal practice covers grand-jury investigations and prosecutions brought by the DOJ Tax Division and U.S. Attorney's offices. A meaningful share of his work involves convincing government counsel that a matter belongs in the civil, not criminal, track — and negotiating civil resolutions when that outcome is achievable.

Eric is one of the most widely known tax controversy educators in the country. He has lectured to more than 70,000 practitioners nationwide and is the creator and lead lecturer of the IRS Representation Certificate Program at the UConn School of Business — the certificate program tax and accounting professionals across the country use to build their own controversy practices.
